Grape variety Monastrell
About the winery Bodegas Luzón makes modern wines with lots of fruit and lush, measured use of wood in the sunny Spanish region of Jumilla. They are generous, robust wines that both wine connoisseurs and casual wine drinkers enjoy. Comfort wine, you can safely say that. The wines are often made from the Monastrell, so typical of Jumilla.
Vineyard and region Sourced from selected grapes from the La Melera vineyard, at 675 meters altitude, with 40-year-old vines on poor soil that give low yields.
Vinification The fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 28 to 30 degrees for 8-10 days. The juice then remains in contact with the peels for about 10-15 days to extract more color and flavor. The wine matures further in French and American oak for 12 months.
Color Deep dark red.
Scent Plums, amarenas and blackberries.
Taste Vanilla, cocoa, tobacco and rosemary. Full bodied. Rounded tannins. Balanced acids.
Serve at Lekker with a rib-eye from the barbecue.
Serving temperature 16-18 °C
