Ca'Rugate Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Campo Bastiglia 2020
Grape variety:
Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella
About the winery:
North of the village of Soave is the winery Ca'Rugate. Ca' Rugate takes its name from Rugate Hill. Most of Ca' Rugate's vineyards are located on this dark, volcanic soil of this hill. The Tessari family, now the fourth generation, makes wines based on history and tradition. Wines with precision and the character of the volcanic soil. In addition to the high-quality range of Soaves with international fame, Ca' Rugate also makes very stylish and refined Valpolicella wines, culminating in the Amarone Punta 470.
Vineyard and region:
The best grapes from the hilly area of Montecchia di Crosara are used for this wine. The soil consists of limestone and gravel.
Vinification:
Traditional fermentation of the Valpolicella grapes from the same vintage. Then the wine is fermented again together with the pulp obtained after pressing the Amarone. This method is called 'Ripasso' because the grapes go through the fermentation process one more time. This greatly improves the taste and structure of the wine. After fermentation, 50% of the wine is aged for 8 months in tonneaux (large oak barrels), the other 50% in stainless steel tanks.
Color Intense garnet red.
Fragrance Concentrated. Red cherries, flowers and almond.
Taste Subtly spicy. Full body with soft tannins. Notes of marzipan and cherries.
Serve with: Delicious with an entrecote from the charcoal grill, or with Ubracio di Amarone: cheese with a crust of dried Amarone grapes.
Serving temperature: 16-18 °C
