Bemberg La Linterna Pinot Noir Los Arboles Finca Las Piedras Plot #12 2017

About the winery The Bemberg family has selected its very best single vineyards for a special series of wines under the name La Linterna. Awards "The 2017 La Linterna Pinot Noir Finca Las Piedras – Parcela #12 Los Arboles was produced in a Burgundian way with grapes from a vineyard planted with a clonal selection in Los Árboles, where they selected the part of the vineyard with more silt, from a place with more humidity. It fermented in oak vats with some 15% full clusters and matured in barrels, where it also finished fermenting, then it spent 12 months in foudre. It has moderate alcohol, 13.7%, and very good freshness and balance, with varietal character and some dusty and fine-grained tannins. -Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Subtly perfumed with notes of cranberries, wild raspberries, rose hips, lemon zest, cocoa, olives and red tea on the nose. It's medium-bodied with tight, very fine tannins. Beautifully structured. Just starting to open and show some savory mushroom notes, along with the vibrant red fruit." -James Suckling
"The 2017 Pinot Noir La Linterna Finca Las Piedras, Parcela 12, from Los Árboles, Uco Valley, was fermented in casks and aged for 18 months in new barrels and foudres, 20% in whole bunches. Ruby red in color. The nose offers notes from the aging process, damp earth and gentle hints of sour cherry and mint. In the mouth, the texture is quite smooth with refined tannins and a fresh, slightly compact core." - Vinous
"One of Daniel Pi's more ambitious projects, this Pinot is made with grapes from a vineyard in Los Arboles, Uco Valley at 1,400m above sea level, where the soils are rocky and climate cool. Aged for six months in foudres, this is a refined, austere wine initially before the oxygen gets to work, bringing out aromas of fresh cherry, blackberry, violet, liquorice, clove and mushroom. In the mouth it's balanced and fresh with granulated tannins and a lasting finish." - 93 points, Decanter on the 2016 vintage
