Grape variety Malbec
About the winery The Bemberg family has selected their very best single vineyards for a special series of wines under the name La Linterna. The selected vineyards are spread from the north to the south of the Andes. Each wine is a precise translation of the microterroir of that location. The wines received very high scores immediately upon their first launch.
Vineyard and region Originating from the Finca La Yesca vineyard, which is located at 1,400 meters above sea level. This vineyard is located in the southernmost point of the province of San Juan. The soil consists of sand and clay. The vineyard was planted in 2009.

Awards "Aromas of crushed berries, cloves and spices with some dried flowers. Mushrooms, too. Medium-bodied with a tight palate and firm, lightly chewy tannins. Rather linear, but there’s nice energy and focus." -James Suckling

"The 2016 Malbec La Linterna Finca La Yesca Parcela #13 hails from the Pedernal Valley in San Juan and was aged for 18 months in new barrels. Dark purple in hue, the nose offers ripe plum, blackberry and country herbs over aromas from the aging process with cherry notes making a late appearance. The grippy tannins and good freshness bring tension and depth to the palate while fresh fruit dominates the finish." - Vinous

"Finely matured, full, dark fruit, mint, blood, wood. Intense, sweet and sour, nice tannin, long." - Press wine

"Perfumed and very inviting, with a pretty nose of lifted fresh herb, heady eucalyptus, herbaceous fresh grass, pure dark fruit and seductive mineral notes, then on to an elegant palate laced with polishes, sleek oak. World class Malbec!" - 97 points, Decanter about the 2015 vintage

"The 2015 La Linterna Malbec Finca La Yesca – Parcela #13 Valle de Pedernal has a very traditional style and was polished by time in the bottle. It was produced with grapes from a plot within the vineyard that is used for the wines of Las Moras. There are notes of Mediterranean herbs and plenty of tannins. It's a powerful wine that needs powerful food." - 92 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate on the 2015 vintage

"Very dark crimson. Fragrant with stony fresh black fruit. Smooth and rich yet with wonderful freshness and a chalky texture on the finish. Bright and rich at the same time." - 17/20, Jancis Robinson on the 2013 vintage
