Grape variety Malbec
About the winery The Bemberg family has selected its very best single vineyards for a special series of wines under the name La Linterna. The selected vineyards are spread from the north to the south of the Andes. Each wine is a precise translation of the microterroir of that location. The wines received very high scores immediately upon their first launch.
Vineyard and region Originating from the Finca El Milagro vineyard, which is located at 1,130 meters above sea level. This vineyard is located in La Consulta. The soil consists of sand. The vineyard was planted in 2010.
Vinification The grapes are destemmed. Fermentation starts spontaneously with natural yeasts in large concrete vats (100 hl) and in concrete eggs. The floating grape pulp is pushed down three times a day. The entire fermentation takes about 3 weeks. The wine then matures for 18 months in barrels of new French oak (300 l). Colour Deep dark red.
Aroma Violets, blackberries, dried cherries, herbs and cocoa.
Taste Lively acids and present tannins. Graphite and chalk. Energetic.
Serve with Delicious with grilled beef or venison steak.
Serving temperature 16-18° C

Awards "A very pretty wine with lovely depth of fruit, offering blackberries and sweet flowers, such as violets. It’s full-bodied, but not overdone, with soft, creamy tannins and a fresh finish." - James Suckling

"From La Consulta, Uco Valley, the 2016 Malbec La Linterna Finca El Milagro Parcela #19 was aged for 18 months in new barrels. Intense purple in the glass, the aromatic profile features blackberry jam and sour cherry liqueur with hints of sweet spices and notes from the aging process. Fluid and vigorous in the mouth, the palate is enhanced by firm tannins that will evolve in the medium term and are sustained by the precise freshness before the finish of dark fruit." - Vinous

"Broad, seductive, sultry, cherries, plums. Intense, ripe tannin, nicely developed." - 17/20, Perswijn about the 2013 vintage
