White wine Albariño CINCO ISLAS ORO is the reflection of the Chaves wine region. It is the result of a unique selection of grapes from a clone of more than 200 years old. The best grapes have been selected to vinify this creamy but especially fruity wine.
The beginning of the Chaves wines
José Chaves founded the Chaves winery in 1955 at the westernmost end of the Atlantic Ocean. The same love for wine was passed on from generation to generation. In 1986, the winery was one of the first to launch wines protected by the appellation "Vinos de la Tierra", which guarantees the origin of the Albariño del Salnés. And with that they have clearly put the wines from the Rias Baixas on the map. Today, the third generation is proudly at the helm of the very successful Chaves winery.
The Albarino grapes for this wine come from the very first vineyard that the winery owned. The name refers to the five islands that can be seen from the vineyard near the coast. At an altitude of about 100 meters, the grapes enjoy the warm sun and a refreshing sea breeze from the Atlantic Ocean. When the Albarino grapes are ripe enough, they are harvested entirely by hand and brought to the winery in small crates. Once they arrive, they are fermented after a strict selection at a controlled temperature of about 16 degrees. Only the juice from the first pressing is used. The wine then matures sur lie for 8 months, which ultimately gives the wine its complexity and creaminess. Finally, the wine matures for another 4 months in stainless steel tanks.
The smell and taste of Chaves Cinco Islas Oro Albarino
The Chaves Cinco Islas Oro Albarino appears in the glass with a golden yellow color. The scent is rich with obvious pineapple, banana and mango. Wonderfully tropical with some warm notes of butter. The taste is just as full as the smell. A creamy wine with salty and mineral notes on the palate. The wine brings together many flavors and ultimately ends with a fresh aftertaste. Combine this wine with a delicious risotto with shellfish.
